Mercury uses a small, deliberate set of cookies and similar technologies (local storage, session storage) to keep you signed in and to understand how the app is used. We do not run advertising trackers or sell your data.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small pieces of data stored by your browser. Some are essential — the site cannot function without them. Others are optional and enable analytics or preferences.
2. Categories we use
Strictly necessary
- Authentication session tokens (keep you signed in).
- CSRF protection tokens.
- Load-balancing cookies set by the hosting layer.
These cannot be disabled without breaking the app.
Preferences
- Theme, sidebar collapsed state, dismissed banners.
- Locale and number-format preferences.
Analytics
- Privacy-preserving product analytics — page views, feature usage, aggregate performance metrics.
- No cross-site tracking, no personal identifiers, no advertising IDs.
3. Third-party cookies
When you sign in with Google or Apple, those providers set their own cookies during the OAuth flow. We recommend reviewing their privacy policies. Payment providers (Stripe) set cookies during checkout for fraud prevention.
4. Managing cookies
- Clear cookies from your browser settings at any time — you will be signed out when you do.
- Opt out of analytics from Settings → Privacy inside the app.
- Use browser features like Safari's Intelligent Tracking Prevention or Firefox's Enhanced Tracking Protection — Mercury remains fully functional.
5. Do Not Track
We respect Do Not Track signals: when we detect DNT, analytics cookies are not set.
6. Changes
If we add a new category of cookie we update this page and, where material, notify you in-app or by email.
